POETRY
"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."
Galileo Galilei
Welcome to the literary sanctum of Avalon's Atelier. Those of you who seek a quick fix of image, action, or even concept will do better with my drawings. Within these pages dwells a variety of literary art that harnesses alternatives to perceived realities. These works, however, require more effort to access. They posses a certain denseness and a characteristically baroque style and complexity that may daunt the average attention span less accustomed to the esoteric. In offering to you the joy inherent in a fuller exploration of the English language, I also recommend that you have on hand a good unabridged dictionary (www.dictionary.msn.com). Free yourself within these pages and savor the purely sensuous vitality of words. Afford your mind the initiative to investigate and experience the subtlety of word play, the depths of moral nakedness, the tragedies of yearning, the fantastic realities of impossible truths, the very perceptions harnessed herein for your discovery.
My initial offering to you is Mythical Transmutations and Decadence, Romantique, the complete chapbook with a dedicated glossary of terms. This collection of fifteen poems comprises a singularly desperate critique of the Human Condition. It is suitable for neither the timid nor the squeamish. In your hands, alone, lies the determination to progress through these sophisticated poems wrought with the horrors and delights from mythology the world over. The challenge awaits you. What revelation will subvert your composure?
The second anthology falls loosely into the catagory of Flights of Fantasy. I invite you to sample them and give these pieces an opportunity to affect, to satisfy you. Penetrate the catharsis. Read them aloud; revel in the luxuriance of audible conceits. After all, that's why you're here!
The remaining oblations resound within the Abyss of Perpetual Darkness. These afford no gentle excursion from the KNOWN. For those devoid of an indomitable curiosity about the distinctly macabre, ever pricking the most delicate, private landscapes of their psyches, do yourselves a kindness: abstain. No force to partake shall press upon you. Yet for those whose minds grind with thirst, those willing to abandon themselves to these unconventional spheres, bondage awaits within such depths as radiant shafts shall never penetrate.
