All of the original pieces are pen-and-ink drawings done in black ink on white paper. The two themes recurring most frequently in my works are the macabre and Greco-Roman Mythology. I am hopelessly drawn to vintage engravings and woodcuts, particulalry the genius of Albrecht Durer (1471-1528), as well as the exquisite engraving-like pen-and-ink mastery of both Franklin Booth (1874-1948) and Mr. Bernie Wrightson (1948-Present), and have often attempted to reproduce an engraving/woodcut effect by means of inking.

While my passion for detailing had driven me to use a .13-mm-nibbed pen almost exclusively, the expert advice of Mr. Bernie Wrightson (see links page) has led me to transition to dip pens, which enable access to new realms of detailing and textures. If you can feel textures and hear sounds – just by looking at ink placed strategically on paper – then I have succeeded in my detailing.
